Cooking with open fires on a dirt floor with bricks and stones is sadly a normal daily occurrence for a lot of families in the Andes. Since wood supplies are not always sufficient, people use animal dung or any other combustible material, creating smoke and ashes which are extremely harmful to people and the environment and yearly cause many illnesses and even deaths.

With our help and support through funds and volunteers, Peru Luz de Esperanza initiated and launched this project to install a stove with a chimney which improves living conditions drastically.

    Decreases respiratory- and eye diseases
    Decreases environmental impact
Reduces the amount of wood used by more than 60%
    Improves hygiene
    Improves food quality
Reduces cooking time (leaves more time for farming, education, housekeeping, etc)
Allows access to quick warm or hot water
    Reduces risks of burns
